It would be interesting to know PSV's profit on player trading whilst Brands has been DOF as that would be the only metric by which he could be judged. Even then we couldn't be sure on what he would be like. He hasn't made the sort of reputation that Henriques did at Porto, in a league of an equivalent standard to the Eredivisie, or the famous Monchi.
In his late 50s I think and whilst I wouldn't expect him to drop everything and run here, you would imagine if he doesn't take the bait this time and leave PSV he won't have too many more opportunities. If he is happy to go out to pasture in Holland and not leave his comfort zone, then that's his choice. But I think he'll join us. If that happens, I think thats a clear sign of a change of intent and stepping up overseas scouting and looking for value for money and big selling-on profits on a few players to augment spending.
I think you have to get a feel for someone's enthusiasm for a job when in negotiations with them. As with a manager, I would be looking for someone who sees opportunity rather than difficulty with Everton. In addition to whatever financial offer is on the table, someone has to see us and think by "fixing" or at least making a significant impact to solving our problems, then that will either be satisfying in itself or will lead to more opportunities in their career.
We don't want just anyone, but at the same time I want some who wants us, and not endless weeks of negotiations and thinking about things. That's how it was with Koeman and he couldn't even be bothered to interrupt his holiday.
