PSV Confirm Everton Approach

Clearly you’re on a wum, they are all now in the worlds top leagues, basically all of them playing for teams better than Everton and they’re not impressive? Amazing lol

Is that the benchmark?

We’ve sign a dof who won the premiere league not long ago, how’s that for a benchmark, and look how it flop.

I’m just sceptical on his role and direction we’re heading. Recruit high potential kids, yes he suits perfectly.

Establish signings? Unknown. I’m sure you would agree.

He has been in his current role for nigh on 8 years, settled life in Holland.

Why would he want to come over here when at first the fans will praise him as the second coming but turn on him in a flash.

If he does come, he will be working with Walsh not to replace him.

To be fair I'm not sure you can ever say someone is THE best midfielder because obviously everybody has different strengths, but if you don't think Dembele is right up there with the best in this league I can only assume you haven't seen him play much. He's an outstanding player who makes a very good Spurs side tick. Obviously he doesn't score worldies every week so if that's how you judge a player he's not your man but if you're a fan of actual football he'll show you how to play.
I read a great article about Dembele which summarised him the following way:

'He's not an elite player in the defensive third nor the attacking third. But in that middle third he is the best in the league.'

I absolutely agree.

Money money money......MONEY!

Sums it up perfectly I think. A player like that would make us a completely different proposition as a team, he's the type of player who gives you the platform to allow your Gueyes, Sigurdssons etc do what they're good at and makes the entire unit look so much better.

It would be interesting to know PSV's profit on player trading whilst Brands has been DOF as that would be the only metric by which he could be judged. Even then we couldn't be sure on what he would be like. He hasn't made the sort of reputation that Henriques did at Porto, in a league of an equivalent standard to the Eredivisie, or the famous Monchi.

In his late 50s I think and whilst I wouldn't expect him to drop everything and run here, you would imagine if he doesn't take the bait this time and leave PSV he won't have too many more opportunities. If he is happy to go out to pasture in Holland and not leave his comfort zone, then that's his choice. But I think he'll join us. If that happens, I think thats a clear sign of a change of intent and stepping up overseas scouting and looking for value for money and big selling-on profits on a few players to augment spending.

I think you have to get a feel for someone's enthusiasm for a job when in negotiations with them. As with a manager, I would be looking for someone who sees opportunity rather than difficulty with Everton. In addition to whatever financial offer is on the table, someone has to see us and think by "fixing" or at least making a significant impact to solving our problems, then that will either be satisfying in itself or will lead to more opportunities in their career.

We don't want just anyone, but at the same time I want some who wants us, and not endless weeks of negotiations and thinking about things. That's how it was with Koeman and he couldn't even be bothered to interrupt his holiday.

Google it...

They were skint when he took over...he brought in some future top names and sold them.

They've done reasonably well in Europe and theyre about to win another title.

Yeah people hyping him up only go by- he bought this player for 6 million and sold him for 20.

If he comes he comes if not we move on. We really need to replace Walsh regardless I can handle us missing out on Brands but I cant deal with us decidig to persist with Walsh on that basis.

PSV's budget in 2011 was €60 million.[101] Before 2011, PSV's budget would only remain balanced if the team would qualify for the UEFA Champions League every year. But disappointing performances since 2008 meant that the club ended up with a yearly €10–20 million negative balance, forcing the club to cut costs and obtain new revenues. The ground under the stadium and the training facilities were sold for €48.4 million to the Eindhoven municipality in a leasehold estateconstruction. PSV also took out a €20 million loan with Philips and additional loans with local entrepreneurs.[102] The club also introduced sponsoring on the back of the player kits. Freo, part of De Lage Landen, was the company to present its name there.[103]

Whoa. Walsh was not a Director of Football at LCFC. He was a scout and by many accounts still a good one. Brands is a totally different beast who has turned two clubs into huge successes. It's quite a different thing to be a scout and a D of F.

And if we are keeping Walsh, it's because the new D of F is fine with him staying, not because anyone is going to be working for him. That's pretty obvious.
