PSV Confirm Everton Approach

That's part of our problem though, one contract and they are set up for life, no thoughts about working harder to get a pay rise as they are already on twice what any normal club would give them.

Exactly, just look at Steve Walsh. He signed a new contract with Leicester when they won the league and was about to embark on a champions league adventure but he took the money off us.

No loyalty with mercenaries.

Strootman, Mertens, Wijnaldum, Propper, Lozano, Depay all for PSV
Moussa Dembele, Pelle, Sergio Romero, Klavan, Ozyakup all for AZ

Not impress mate. Hardly any of them are game changer. Maybe Mertens but that list is not impressive if you read the article below and compare with Belgium academy.

My question is, what is Brand’s main role? Recruiting potential or in charge of senior establish player acquisition? If it’s the latter, we’re heading into the unknown as he’s not well known for that.

Ah right forget it then. Better stick with the tried and tested Steven Walsh.

Surely it’s not about who scouted who or signed who. Surely we need Brands or any DOF to come in and restructure the whole recruitment and scouting side, transfer negotiations, coaching structure, academy set up, loan system, managerial appointments etc. It’s not just about ‘yeah but he bought Kante’, we need someone able to run the whole operation because no one else at Everton can.

Dunno about that - Mertens scored 55 so far the last two seasons and is a key player in a Napoli side challenging for the league
Lozano been massively impressive for PSV this season - and touted already as the next big export to a big European team from Holland.
Strootman - key player for a very good Roma side that has reached the CL QF
Wijnaldum - can't stand him, but again is likely gonna be playing in a SF of the CL soon for a team in the top 4 in this league as well, still a blert though.
Depay - fell foul of the merry go round at United with managers, is tearing it up and very much a key player once again since he moved to france though
Ozyakup - key player in a Beskitas side that reached the CL knock-out rounds
Dembele - probably Spurs most important player the past 4 seasons

the others are all very good signings form the level of club he was at and signing players for

His recruitment/development has been instrumental in first AZ winning the league (shades of walsh there lol), but on top he rebuilt a PSV side in disarray and financially in a mess, to the stage they are starting to dominate the league once again. he's also been the one recruiting the managers which have led to both those teams winning the league etc.

Is he a risk - ofc - anyone is, does he have experience of the role and of outperforming in that role all his competitors then yeah, same doubts existed with Monchi when he was linked - he ended up going Roma and now they have improved a huge amount - all the whilst under financial restraints from the new stadium build etc.

Dembele's probably the best midfielder in the Premier League like, but OK.

That’s worrying isn’t it. Importing the Dutch method and blueprint seems outdated and ineffective as far as we can see now. Of all the prominent league in Europe, Dutch league lags behind by a long way.

We might as well recruit the dof of Leipzig. Building a very decent team there.

We already tried, Ralf isn't coming. We even had formal meetings with them last year.

Look, to not be impressed by what Brands has done is just silly. PSV have OWNED that league the last couple years. Say what you want about it, but to then look at that list of players and not be impressed by it, I mean, come on, man.

Mate you are comparing a club DoF, with a guy who is a national FA's director, one has massively more scope to alter the development of a countries young players than the other.

Stick Sablon in charge of say AZ and see how much influence he would have in developing similar for the Dutch that happened for the Belgium - my guess is not very much difference to any DoF at a clubs

If anyone is on Twitter, the sport witness Twitter account has just called out the echo for plagiarism asking questions about it to paul gorst and kristian Walsh. This brands story was one of the ones used with the same headline as the sport witness one
