It says a lot that the top clubs in the world are after our players. We really can't be too far away can we?

That's what Martinez is banking on with the strategy of keeping Stones. He'll believe the core talent in the side is good enough to develop into something special.

He's right too. Problem is... depth. A few injuries and we're starting the Naismiths, Osmans and McGeadys of this world regularly.

Which is why we're so invested in this transfer window. We need to add so that Nasimith and McGeady are no longer the options as well as increasing the competition. It's a bit of a long play given our finances, but considering the recent contract extensions, we're on the right path. Now just freaking sign someone Bobby.

I so despair we didnt take up the whole idea Chelsea had when they bought almost every highly touted youngster in Europe when FFP came into effect. At least we would have played them as opposed to loaning them out for ages then selling.

He was also reported to still be a un peu triste over the Thierry Henry handball.

The Goodison club have been fighting off Chelsea’s attempt to sign John Stones, rejecting four bids – the last for £37 million.

Now, German giants Bayern are set to join Paris St-Germain in a battle for Coleman.

Meanwhile, it’s now thought Chelsea would have to increase their offer for Stones to £40m - plus a player - to tempt Everton into a reluctant sale of the England defender.

But right back Coleman, 26, is also in demand with the transfer window closing on Tuesday.

Everton have rejected an inquiry from top French club PSG, but the word from the continent last night was that Pep Guardiola’s Bayern were preparing a bid of £18m.

The Daily Star Sunday understands that Coleman has been on Bayern’s radar since the January transfer window. Everton, meanwhile, still insist Stones, 21, is not for sale.
