The effort the league is going to with the apparent £4m testing, phased return to training and favourable briefings in the press, I’m pretty sure it’ll be finished. They’ve gone all in here. Plus a successful international comparison (Germany) adds to the need to finish.
Money matters.
The reason the league is finishing under these conditions is because they need to finish to get the TV money. Nothing more, nothing less.
It's the same reason why next season will start with the same restrictions in place. Clubs want/need the TV money. I don't really now how much they need it to survive but the fact that all 20 have agreed to returning suggests they all do to some extent.
Personally I find it wrong that this season is starting again. I find it wrong that next season will start under the current circumstances. I find it wrong that there's talk of 30, 40, 50M transfers at this current time. I know of lot of us want to utilise football as a distraction at the moment but I'd mothball it all until it's safe and ethically right to return. That means the end of this season, the transfer window and the next season. I know that this could hit us harder financially than some of the bigger clubs (particularly if FFP is used to hold us back). But so be it. This isn't about being morally outraged to stop the current season from returning. It's about the moral obligation not to start football or any football related activities until it's safe to do so....full stop.
If that means restarting the 2019/20 season in March 2021 then so be it. If it means null and voiding the season then so be it. If it means determining the season on ppg then so be it. It doesn't really matter in the context of what is going on with this global pandemic. Personally this isn't about stopping the RS winning the league. It's about football collectively doing the right thing.
But money matters.
