There is talk of pushing it back to start June 26/27 which is sensible because it gives the clubs time to train correctly as a group and also enough wiggle room for testing plus should a 2nd spike come in, they can have time to curtaining the league.
Using the Bundesliga as an example isn't the benchmark because of the country is in far more healthy in terms of controlling the virus but we are doing better however our lockdown is essential over some will argue it was never really a lockdown.
I think they have to draw a line under this season and concentrate on next season for the financial benefits of having traffic coming into the stadiums because a collective hit across all 20 clubs will be a hell of a lot less then the numbers United/Arsenal/Spurs/Them do on a match day.
It's time the Premier League have clear and final position on:
Testing (How many is too many?)
Curtaining (timescale/conclusions)
2020/2021 Start Date

I think part of the problem is people take tribal positions on things, which to some extent is inevitable. I've tried where possible to avoid that tribalism, certainly the posts aren't really about LFC. I don't actually think plans to re-start are a conspiracy from LFC any more than plans to try and get it stopped are a conspiracy from MUFC & EFC. Ironically I think EFC & MUFC seem quite keen to restart (both have a fair bit to gain from the season ending) and LFC seem to have avoided being the most vocal backers of it.
There is a serious discussion about what happens if the season were to be cancelled. Personally I'd be far happier for you to be given the title than a ridiculous and dangerous charade of having to re start a season that ended months months ago, in wholly different conditions to what we would expect football to be played in.
However whatever people's views are, what I find really hard to square is the idea-if we compare ourselves to other European countries- it is in any way safe to re-commence as things stand. The stats remain very clear. I think the international context with Europe is important, as they are our nearest neighbours and without it we just have to take the word of a PM and his advisor(s). If people want to discard the evidence of what Holland, France, Belgium, Scotland etc have all done in their own context, as well as what every country was doing when they had our level of deaths (clue they were still in restrictive lock downs) and override that with the opinions of Cummings and Johnson, then I'm not sure what I can say to that person really.
Likewise I do understand people saying they miss football. I personally don't but I understand that people do. Don't conflate that with being safe though. Maybe there is a pinch point where people feel a certain amount of danger is worth the reward of getting what they want. Or that football would rather start again than seriously look at wage caps. They are all fine positions, but don't fob people off with the idea that this is in an way safe.

A couple of points for me. Firstly the poor governance is now very clear. They are looking to move the start of the PL back to September. We've already seen, if seasons don't finish on time, broadcasters (never mind sponsors) demand money back. In a season that is likely to have to end abruptly due to a Euro's and the potential of a 2nd wave of the illness over the winter it seems completely ridiculous to me that you would be looking to push a season back several weeks. Where are they going to find the time to play all these games? They should be doing the opposite. A smart league would now do the opposite. Write off this season, but safeguard next season, potentially starts it in late July if needs be.
The 2nd point is that slippage is real weakness. It was meant to be early June, got put to the 12, then the 19th now we are at the 26th. I suspect it will just keep slipping back. In essence it's not safe. Thats the reality. So they keep putting it back in the hope it becomes safe a week later. In all honest unless you have put a deadline, the clubs will continue to just ease the deadline back as it's the easiest thing to do. Clearly we all want football back. The easiest thing is to remain none committal, keep to a date but keep it as abstract as possible. At some point somebody is going to have to say if we aren't ready to start by this date- requiring x,y,z metrics to be satisfied to do so, then we can't start.
The reality is also that deaths are now back on the increase. By the 2nd of June we are anticipating a 2nd spike and may be back into lockdown. We all know this is likely. It Just seems really poor planning.
How can clubs make any transfer plans, or plans for survival if we have this date that can't be stuck too? TV will not be releasing the next set of money (due July 1st) if there is no clarity on when next season starts.
All of these points lead back to the same avenue, namely the PL is simply too weak to make the decisions that are required.

So if they start at the end of June, they are expecting teams who have had 3 months without a proper game of footy, to play 9 games in around 4 weeks to complete the league by end of July?
I wonder who will win "the most injuries" title for this period.

I mean you don't know where inept planning and sensationalist journalism meet. However how are they finishing 11 championship games or some clubs with 13 domestic games in a month? If we start late June, to be finished by the end of July is not possible. We would be finished by late August.
The other point, as for finish by mid September. Again fine but how are we organising transfer windows? Has any legislation been passed on that throughout Europe to allow teams to buy and crucially sell? Also as I've put above, if you finish mid September, you will be re-starting again at the earliest mid to late October. Where is the time?
Add to that, there's apparently talk in August for the European competitions to be completed, so when will the 20/21 season start?
Surely, they're not expecting clubs to go straight into next season because that would be a very, very long period when you consider the Euros in '21 as well.
The 21/22 season has to start early too to facilitate the World Cup in late '21 (November and December), therefore it's one huge congested list of fixtures.
Scrap it and start afresh in August and it'll have the least impact on the following few years.

I can't see a government or club nevermind an insurance company allowing a competitive sport being played during a pandemic.
Imagine Germany has safeguarded some elements of the game:

With no reassurance over health of BAME or doctors concerns, I agree why risk destroying 2 seasons plus all the revenue and contracts involved.

There won't be spectators in stadiums for a long time to come. Most if not all of next season will be played behind closed doors.
Apologies, I had it down for being in a mixture of December 21 and into 22.
The "fun" thing about that idiotic 'if it didn't finish by mid September' is that this is crunch time as it is. The Euros have been pushed to next summer, the idiotic Qatar world cup is right after. They have no time to move anything around.
