Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale

Unbelievable this reaction.

It’d be interesting to see what reaction a theoretical “Prof. Dennis Barrett-Baxendale” would be getting if he had the same career path and he’d accomplished the same as Denise with EitC, and had the same positive (even glowing) reviews from those who’d worked with him.

Not saying all the naysayers fall into that category, but I’d wager the overall reaction wouldn’t be nearly so negative.

Anything I have ever read about her here or elsewhere has been very positive. Why is it so terrible to at least give her a chance. She has done well in previous jobs, knows the club well and knows what is needed. She will not have to read herself into the job and knows all of the people involved in the running of the club already.

I think that if you look at senior appointments like this in large organisations a very large percentage were already in the workforce. I would guess there may be more additions as time goes on but let's just see how this goes and wish them well.

It doesn't automatically have to be a bad appointment.

I was hoping for someone external BUT, it may be we are so far down the line with the ground move, that someone already at the club with the requisite knowledge and contacts could be the sensible choice.

I doubt the club have even bothered to look outside for external candidates because it,s safer to promote from within and control the CEO.
It's also 'safer' i.e. not a gamble with one of the most important roles in the club, if you realise you have the right person already at the club because you have worked with them over a number of years and identified their talent and potential to take on a bigger role. That's actually how many large successful companies try and manage their succession plans to provide stability at the top.

Except the people whom have picked the CEO have a shocking record - see Suntan Bob.
Any company that has a turn over 100-200 million per year must be looking external as well as internal.

Maybe, just maybe, the work she’s done since she’s been involved with the club at both Eitc and as a main board member of the football club has made her an obvious replacement for the hapless Elstone?

Just a thought like.....and I obviously appreciate the fact that theory doesn’t have anywhere near the same level of mileage for conspiracy theory cry arseing that yours has.

I don't think the smae people made the decision this time, Moshiri and his advisors will have had final say on this. I agree in principle outside candidates should be considered, they are not easy to come by in the football industry. I am not assuming it is a safe or bad decision though just because it is an internal appointment, if she has been identified as a capable leader then she should be given the job.

Why would you give credit to what Kenwright has said? The useless romantic old fool.

It’s a safe unambitious and comfortable appointment as per usual with this club.

Happy to sit in mid table and not rock the boat.

Cheer up Bob. The super league won't be that bad mate.

PDBB as i will call her has made a strong start and promoting from within for this role allows Mosh to be a bit more adventurous in other roles where its needed. The appointments of Ryantsev and Harris also dilutes the CEO role somewhat so its not such a huge step. this is a smart move.
