fair enough, when you put it like that. I don't want it to come across I'm sticking up for him btw; I only popped in to say about the age thing but you instantly shot me down about assault, rightly so. I think he's a creep and needs to answer for it, by hiding he looks guilty anyway. Also the fact he tried to silence her with £500k doesn't look good either.

I started off having a mare here, hope I have turned it around.

I in no way meant to suggest you were of his ilk, but I (just me as a person not in mod role) had to say something.

It's sadly a societal/cultural issue to focus on the victims behavior to excuse the behavior of another. Even a "throw away" comment on a forum contributes to the cultural norm.

A case of simply not thinking through what I was writing. I didn't mean to come across as blasé as it sounded.

He is as creepy and as sleazy as they come. However if I was defending him I would have advised him to say yes I had sex with her, the legal age in UK is 16, she was 17. I don't know anything about the other stuff. Then let them prove that he did. All this rubbish about Pizza Express and not being able to sweat is crazy.

To clarify however I think he 100% knew what Epstein and Maxwell were up to. Not sure if the US have the same rules as us for proof - criminal case - beyond reasonable doubt; civil case - on the balance of probabilities. If they do, I reckon he's had it in a civil case. They only have to think there's a 51% chance he's guilty.
16 is the age of consent in the UK?

Yes. You are still a child until you are 18 legally but as far as sex goes you can have consensual sex at 16.
I didn't mean to make that sound so shocked. 16 is common in the US. Each state is different though. Some were horribly low until recently.

Some laws set at 18 have clauses for differences in age so that an 18-19 year old with a 16-17 year girl/boyfriend aren't in trouble.

Yeah there's lots of grey areas. What do you do with a 16 year old boy having sex with his 15 year old girlfriend. And then there's the teacher who has a relationship with a 17 year old pupil. The position of trust is breached but the pupil can consent. Very complex.
