Pray for Man City in the champions league for the next two years, NOT.

I've read some real nonsense about all this and not just on here. The media are just as clueless. The best summation of the whole thing is actually from a vlogger, albeit one with some professional insight into what has gone on. It's lengthy, but worth the read, especially for those of you who have been getting your news from Sky or Talkspite.

the kopites on here wont like this

Gary Neville and, God help me, even Carragher, are bang on right here. FFP is appalling. Any Evertonian rubbing their hands at City's plight on the basis of maybe getting into the Europa this season is being utterly short sighted. With FFP in place we have no chance of becoming sustainably big again. Could we 'do a Leicester'? Possible but highly unlikely. Could we break into that 'top table' for a foreseeable duration? Not a chance.

With legitimate sponsorship and marketing deals etc a club can still make it to the top table under FFP. Man Citys problem is that the source of their funds were not legitimate and they lied about it.

Nope I dont think so as the process would have took a lot longer and in that time Coty would have been at risk of losing (and probably lost) a lot of their top players to Real, Barca, Bayern etc.

And without FFP City wouldn’t just buy the league every single season (more than they already have) and make it impossible for anyone else to win it?

Either way modern football is rigged and until the bubble bursts or there’s a breakaway league us and everyone outside the established clubs are never getting back to the top for any length of time. I don’t get how people can’t see this

Utter nonsense. City have pulled out of deals for Fred, Maguire, Sanchez and a few more because the numbers didn't add up.

I get that argument but players from the champions league clubs change hands fairly regularly anyway. It would take a longer term project, such as we might see from the red bull clubs, but I believe its doable.
I'm old enough to remember the clubs who threw cash at it short term: palma, Blackburn, Leeds, celta vigo and they didn't make it. Its gonna take wise long term club building.
