Potential Friendly with FC Twente this summer?

It's unclear in the actual UEFA regulations (which I linked in the other EL thread but here it is again: 2017-18 version*) whether England would lose United's place or the lowest place.

* Regulation 3.06
It's abundantly clear

This season Spain - like England - have the same EL allocation. 2 Group and 1 3rd Rd Q. Last season, when Sevilla won the EL, their EL allocation was 2 x Group stage.

We could do with being involved in a pre-season tournament against top top quality clubs. The last time we were we had a great season.

I suppose with that Euro Disney trophy qualifier though it complicates matters in terms of ANY pre-season tournament.

We played teams like Gloucester City, Bournmouth, BK Fram, IFK, and Koln in 1994 mate

Hmm.

2013/14 was the last great season we had.

Real Madrid/Juventus/Valencia/Everton.

Now that's decent preparation.

No doubt this summer we'll be playing Burscough and Staleybridge Celtic and then off to some god forsaken vampire infested east European hell hole to play a couple of ties in the Euro Disney Cup.

Not ideal.

Finishing 5th and not winning a trinket is "great"? I wouldn't even consider finishing 4th with a crap squad in 2005 as being great.

You and I have different standards, comrade.

Perhaps you could let UEFA know then?

But UEFA have confirmed this (United winning the Europa League) would not change Everton's entry point into the competition in the third qualifying round, with England's other Europa League entrant starting in the group stage.

Added: in your example you quoted Celta Vigo and Athletico Bilbao being in the group stages - I think that was because they both qualified for those stages as Sevilla were 7th in La Liga that year.

Great football, great win record (21 wins in 38 games...when did that happen before that season?).

We rubbed shoulders with Europe's heads of state in that pre-season tournament and held our own.

This preseason we'll be playing some Tanzanian outfit for a bunch of gambling spivs and then Burscough Town before locking horns for real with Transylvania United in the Euro Disney qualifier.

It's four isn't it?

27-Jul-17 3rd qualifying round Europa League, 1st leg
03-Aug-17 3rd qualifying round Europa League, 2nd leg
17-Aug-17 4th qualifying round Europa League, 1st leg
24-Aug-17 4th qualifying round Europa League, 2nd leg

So four games before the season starts beginning on 27th July?

Wowzers. That's as early as we've started a season I can ever remember.

Yes, I see that UEFA have changed the rule book - just as they did in 2005-6 but not quite in the same direction. Previously the national FAs were allowed to determine how they decided these things... (which is why you see the Cup winners as first ranked and why, before they used to allow the Cup runners-up a place (Hull were the last ones to benefit, Palace missed out).

Is this a joke? lol
