Potential Friendly with FC Twente this summer?

Koemans teams do tend to finish the second half strongly, be interesting the changes with early competitive games,
Is it defo 3rd qualifying round and 4th qualifying round now, or does United winning the EL mean the 4th qualifying round only?

Hope we dont do any silly games a long way away, none of that nonsense in America or Asia, rather play in Scotland or Ireland

We'll never expand the club's international recognition, if they don't at least attempt to drum a little interest. The best way to do that is to travel. If we are ever going to be a large player on the world stage, we have to stop acting small.

Again.. If United win EL and finish outside Top 4 it becomes 5 CL and 2 EL. Since the first two places (of the 3) are Group Stage we would be in the Group Stage (which is where United/Arsenal would have been).

It's unclear in the actual UEFA regulations (which I linked in the other EL thread but here it is again: 2017-18 version*) whether England would lose United's place or the lowest place.

* Regulation 3.06

It will, but at what possible cost later on?

If they replace normal friendlies then why would it be at any cost? The only 'cost' would be if we get to the latter reaches of the competition, and the extra fixtures start to affect our league form. Any way, this is not really the thread for this, as per usual with you! ;)

The four games needed to be played will be competitive and have pressure to them.

Starting a season in July is not exactly preferable is it?

From a fan-watching perspective, you are probably right.
From a commercial/marketing revenue earning perspective, the US, Asia or some other continental trip is, or should be, highly beneficial.

Considering how much use most people consider friendlies to normally be, this would be an improvement wouldn't it? And considering the oppo is gonna be of the quality of Airbus UK or some random European minnow, it shouldn't be stretching us too much competitively. Best of both worlds imo - more edge than a normal friendly, against teams that we should beat, but competitive enough to get us in tune for the start of the season, and perfect opportunity to try out some fringe/young players in games that matter, but not necessarily too much.

But as i said, this isn't the thread for that! :o
