I'm just glad we didn't get rid of Stones. That one action tells the world that we are ready to compete for the top.

No, because if it had, Martinez would have said it in his most recent interview to prevent fume/protests.
I believe money was there, but we all know that we don't have an unlimited pot.
Not saying he didn't want one...just saying he could be a lot more selective..more of a "desired skill" than a "requirement". Thinking out loud.
yeah one person who has come out of this window well is Martinez. Was not a fan and saw him as someone who believed in a system more than the players and the club. Now, I believe he can adapt and can show the spirit we need. I'm a convert. We were very close today.
At the end of last season (after the Spurs game) I would have been very happy to see Martinez leave the club - I said as much in an article on this site.
However I think he has had an exemplary transfer window despite having his hands tied by our friends in the Board. We've kept everyone we wanted to keep, brought in previously loaned players who we know add to the team and the club, and made some good additions to the squad.
Martinez has played a blinder - the jury is still out about what he does on the pitch, but there can be little doubt of his success off the pitch this summer.
So far, looks like a solid BELL curve. Is this what you were after?
and he can knock up a decent enough omellete that means you can ignore there is no toast with itIt is if you got the milk and eggs for the same price as the bread, and your favourite son was still there when you got home.
Not enough money was there, no.
The difference is you're saying we'd need £30m+ for a number 10 when we all know we could have got one for much less. Ross has been performing better in the centre of midfield as opposed to behind Lukaku.
He has been better and I don't think it is all his fault since he isn't helped by McCarthy and Barry never running beyond him. Hopefully with two of Deulofeu, Mirallas and Lennon to stretch teams he will have a bit more space. Ross is our No 10 now so let's be positive. He is after all the biggest positive we can take from the start of the season.I don't think Ross has been all that good as a number ten tbh. He may have a future in centre midfield. I don't see him long term behind a striker.
I gave it a 4. For the simple reason the one key position that we desperately needed 'a number 10' was not addressed, even though our manager has been banging on about it all summer. I said earlier in the thread, due to us not getting the Ukrainian lad, I would loved us to get nolito or even better Sigurdsson to play the number 10 role. As it is we've turned down an 8m bid for Naismith to 'fulfil' this role off the bench.
