Possible Defensive Midfielders...

Yeah but we can't use that argument can we. Look at Pienaar and Osman. Oh and AJ is slight but he very rarely gets knocked off the ball.

Is Fernandes a defensive midfielder? I've never really seen him as an attacking one, but he does get up a few times.

Exactly, I don't see were he fits as a defensive midfielder. Luxury with ball skills and deft passing. What I like is his vision on the pitch. He is in the Stevie P and Arteta mode.

mourinho referred to him as the new makelelé.

he knows a thing or two about footy.

Has the build for it. Has the vision to spray nice passes round. Has good technique with the ball at his feet.

If he can get carsleys engine in him, he could be a great holding midfielder. Equally, with someone like appiah or even cahill, he could be part of a central midfield in 4-4-2, both box to box midfielders.

Manelele

Does Owen Hargreaves fall into this category? Doesnt seem to be playing regulary at Man U and has plenty of experience in big games, could do worse for a decent price if we could get him.

Like Ive always said, he's the man we need and we dont know what went on when he [Poor language removed] us off for Valencia.

I reckon he was just playing hard to get and is the best midfielder ever. Ever.

Someone to replace Lee, that is a massive job as he has been exceptional.

Someone such as:

Diarra.
Huddlestone.

etc
