We don't score enough goals mate. If we want to finish top four we'll need to score a lot more, one or two goals a game won't be good enough.

true, but I dont understand why peeps are panicking. Jelavic is freaking ace, theres very few strikers in the world who keep form all the time.
We've scored in all but ones of our games this season and kept a clean sheet in three.
If we losely define the job of the attack as to score goals and the job of the defence to not concede, I know which of the two is performing better.

I agree with your other point. If we never had Jelavic I'd have said a striker all day. As it stands I'd be happy enough with Mirallas, Vic or Vellios standing in.
Arsenal conceded 9 more goals than us last season. In fact, every team above us bar City and United did. Unfortunately they also scored noticeably more.
There is a reason teams who defend really well but have a limited strike force don't win the league. It's all about putting the ball in the net at the end of the day.
Our defending really hasn't been bad, a fair few of the goals we've conceded have been stupid deflections or goals which shouldn't have stood, you can't legislate for that. What you can do though is score more than the opposition so those lucky goals don't count.
It would help if two of those three weren't made of glass, like.
Thing is though, Mirallas could play up front, but then we lose him on the wing and have to put Naismith there. We need a striker who is good enough to replace Jelavic in the squad, not in the first eleven. No way i'd be comfortable with Vellios or Anichebe starting a run of games if Jela was injured.
I actually think Vellios looks decent, but even Chelsea with their heaps of quality in the rest of the team are struggling because they haven't got depth up front. Jelavic out and our team looks awful thin very quickly.

I'd sooner Naismith on the wing and a truly competant GK in the sticks. Mirallas is capable of playing the lead striker role well.

But yeah, i agree Mirallas would probably do well up front. Just think a winger/striker of quality from the bench is needed.
Heard there's some American lad who is pretty decent.

People keep saying that but I can't see it.
I agree about better back up for Jelavic 100%. Just that the priority for me is replacing a GK who's costing us point every other week. We've got goals all over the side. We've only got one snide cat.

Nothing needs to happen to the defence. Gibson is back now, we will be sound at the back. Only conceded 3 goals against Arsenal, Man City and Spurs, that to me is superb.
