sadly this is true - I don’t wear one now for this reason, but if anyone asks I just bore them with my research into what my family members did during the wars

I still just wear a simple paper one. I can't stand all of these cringeworthy badges and massive ornaments. Its supposed to be a dignified personal little act of remembrance, not a grotesque display of one-upmanship from people who don't give a crap about our service men and woman of either the past or present.

Is a bit of a flag shaggers, poppy shaming, ‘my gesture’s bigger than your gesture’ affair these days.

That said, my mate works for the British Legion, and they do a lot of good work for ex-forces in need, so stick a few quid in, if you can, even if you don’t want the poppy.

I buy a normal Poppy, put what I can in the collecting tin, and wear it with Pride until Remembrance Sunday is over.

Some of the stuff highlighted previously is disgusting and insulting, and I agree it's slowly becoming tarnished by crass displays.

The disreputable right can try and hijack this as much as they like, but 99.9% of the UK population see them for what they are.
