Current Affairs Poppy season crassness

I still just wear a simple paper one. I can't stand all of these cringeworthy badges and massive ornaments. Its supposed to be a dignified personal little act of remembrance, not a grotesque display of one-upmanship from people who don't give a crap about our service men and woman of either the past or present.

Much better place to put your charitable donations direct-

Also contact local MP over the appalling current housing conditions that our armed service personal have to put up with right now...

It’s just become a ‘my Poppy’s bigger than yours’ competition
This really.

It’s also become something of a rallying cry for the more nationalistic elements in this country as well.

I buy a normal Poppy, put what I can in the collecting tin, and wear it with Pride until Remembrance Sunday is over.

Some of the stuff highlighted previously is disgusting and insulting, and I agree it's slowly becoming tarnished by crass displays.

The disreputable right can try and hijack this as much as they like, but 99.9% of the UK population see them for what they are.
