I don't think we could. We'll maybe for the derby and the games against the contenders but certainly not for a 2nd round league cup tie !

You don't build a stadium for league cup second round games. United don't fill OT, Arsenal certainly don't fill the Emirates. But at quids for a quid and adults for 10-15 then you get 50k for those sort of games. It's all about pricing a game on its merits.

We could have 47k season tickets. 3k away fans. 6-7k general sale. 3-4k hospitality and commercial.

It's very achievable with the right marketing, adequate planning and a half decent team.

This post about sums up my views.

We need to make football an affordable experience for the family again. Whatever happened at most clubs when dads took their kids (sorry for the stereotyping) and they were then hooked and became lifelong fans. It happened to me.

Make the stadium bigger (say 58 - 60, 000) and keep the ticket prices reasonable i.e. season tickets for all of us, and reduced prices for our own walk up occasional fans , especially for less appealing matches where people can bring their kids for their introductions to the "New Lady".

That’s probably the most sense I’ve seen on this chat. That’s how I was hooked when my step dad introduced me to he blues when I was 10

No matter the size, make it feel intimate if that's possible. "Intimate" often means modular, where whole top balconies etc., can be closed off to keep fans near the pitch for certain games. It's pretty grim when you have an expansive stadium with less than 15K fans. I've been to a game at Estadio Azteca (back when it held 95K) seeing Club America, and it was very sparse, since they were playing some lesser team. Zero atmosphere. No matter what the capacity will be--55K, 60K, 65K--we also need to account for the trend these days where you have to have tons of luxury amenities/corporate hospitality boxes/restaurants, etc. These things have huge footprints and add to the imensity of the stadium. This type of stuff brings in money, far more than your average seat, but only increases the divide between the have's and the have-nots. I'd rather have a smaller-footprint stadium that holds more "everyday" fans, than a larger-footprint stadium with all those privileged amenities...particularly if this is going on the waterfront, where space is limited.
