Then adhere to the site rules, which I have bothered to read, and ban it altogether. Otherwise, revise the rules to include 'contributions must not be, unless a subscriber:'
As Bruce has explained previously, this is a trial. If it doesn't work we will look at it again.

Blues,

Moderators try and make this place the best online platform for Evertonians - great to see the passion behind feedback here but it's worth keeping that in mind before sniping and being overly miserable.

Politics. Many on here will know we've had more u-turns on how we handle politics than any other issue in our 10 years managing this place because it's a difficult one.

Anything 'religion, racial or political' tend to cause angst and aggro. In my opinion, it causes good blues to needlessly fall out. Our standard for the last few years has been;

q) Contributions must not be... religious, racial or political. There are other forums on the Internet suited for exactly this type of discussion, and ask that you please conduct such discussions on those forums.

In short, swerve the moody stuff. Some really good blues have been banned over the years, on a football forum - because of politics. Mods have been asked to be lenient with this and let it go until it gets a bit silly.

There's been a big increase in political threads in the ale house and so, we've revisited this.

An idea put forward was 'Politics. But lets stick it elsewhere with a disclaimer to prevent the titty lips'

The elsewhere bit - it seemed logical to put it in the upgraded forum, though based on comments in this thread, it could be an idea to create another forum for current affairs...

As bruce said, it's a trial.

Groucho, I keep hearing this, yet in another thread Bruce posted this:

which suggests to me that Bruce already has a fair idea of the results of this so-called experiment.
That is his inkling I'm sure. He too is allowed an opinion on how he thinks it will pan out.

But we will see how it goes and change if needed.

Under the proposals what would be the approach to a thread on today's Times report on a misfired Trident missile. Would that be considered political as of itself despite the quite obvious point that any discussion would contain political opinion yet is a defence/military topic. Would I have to pay a fee to discuss that?
How about Plato? Ramses? Caesar?
