Politics and stuff

Airliners is about plane spotting, and the BBC about which members would be in a television program about the clique :) Even Vietnam I'd say is history more than current affairs. Thanks for your offer btw, I've added it to the list of names for Dan to consider.

Shouldn't underestimate the effort mods put into the site & if it can be made easier for them by getting more fine, upstanding people, go for it.

Politics and stuff, IMO, should be left in the Ale House though.

Thanks.

I don't think anybody underestimates the work mods do here - they all work hard and volunteer their time.

Judging by some of the exchanges between members, I would say you're wrong if I could summon up enough interest. As it is, I'm certain you're right. But good campaign line though.

I do realise that you both went out of your way and kindly helped maintain some threads, and thank you for that. Yes, some discussions go round in a monotonous death-dance, but other discussions can still take place within that particular thread, and ongoing information appended.

Let's look at the EU thread. Both yourself and Esk closed a few threads down that people tried to instigate to discuss the matter initially, and it wasn't until Mick started one that we were able to discuss it. How many pages were there before you locked it ?

Surely the answer is to initially try to recruit a couple of mod's to concentrate on Ale house current affairs. Why not at least try ?

I won't speak on their behalf, but generally whenever this topic has been discussed behind the scenes, it was only myself (and Esk) that wanted these kind of threads allowed. It really isn't a case that I'm a lone spoilsport here, but rather that I'm more falling in line with the rest of the mod team.

Tbf alot of threads do get locked which is frustrating tbf, but paying 20 quid can't be the only option we have. What does this money cover?

It doesn't though. Of the 20 topics on the front page of the Ale House, 3 are political.

Is that excessive as a percentage of threads and as a ratio of posts?

To my recollection, and I do stand to be corrected, the more 'fervent' the topic the more it reduces contributing posters
There are plenty of forums devoted to politics for those that want to discuss such things.
I welcome the idea, because I spend half my time on here trying desperately not to get into political debates,

Do you succeed?

[...]

This thread has just under half the amount of 'views' than the match day thread that's been up since Tuesday. There are only so many ways to say Clev's crap ;)
