Pochettino sacked

I would have him if we needed a manager.

Wouldn't go out of my way to get him though. Won nothing and been sacked by a club we are looking to compete with seemingly due to some behind the scenes problems.
Appears to be that senior players he wasn't either selecting or too keen on,formed a clique to sit out contracts and poison the rest of the squad against him, plus Levy is an ass.

You suggested sarcastically that an ex / sacked Man Utd manager being appointed Man City manager was extraordinarily unlikely.

I was making the point that it’s not unheard of and has happened countless times before with other rival clubs.

City are much better than United as well as just being rivals, they are not replacing the best manager in the world with a guy who their inferior rivals sacked for being crap.

They got in the top 4, 2 out of 3 seasons before he got there.
I'm not diminishing the job he did but you can't deny he's benefited from Arsenal and Man Utd both taking turns to completely 'kup the last few seasons.
He has overachieved for about 3 of those 5 seasons(1st 3) and the other 2(Arsenal/ManU) have massively underachieved.
But the last 2 seasons he has had a better squad than both Arsenal and United so he was performing to par and the last 8 months well below par.
Thank God for a reasonable poster!

If anyone has a checklist for a perfect manager at Everton, Poch would tick all the boxes. Pipe dream but what a signing that would be.

In what way? People keep saying this about different managers, but I don’t think it holds water

Football evolves, from a managerial point of view its a percentage game, Jose had success at a point where the best percentages to push was being solid, having power, containing and backing yourself to hold and score, it was successful at a time, it was also backed by finance in the majority of cases, in my opinion that papered over the cracks of an overly defensive strategy by being able to buy excellent offensive players. Football has moved on for me tough or the percentages game has changed, high pressing, flooding, possession based, defending by pressing, hybrid positions and or overwhelming on the counter.

I think neither overly defensive football or big money spending will be tolerated at Spurs. I also see him undermining what has been working at Spurs in terms of bringing through young players. I dont see his philosophy say trumping a Pep or Clippity's philosophy in a contemporary way.

My opinion mind.

But his style works well as a counter attack strategy, which is a good way to beat the big teams at the moment. It is a game of fine margins.

Of course it depends on Levy’s demands. Is cementing top four and perhaps a domestic cup enough?

I dont think it does really, i dont think many of his teams were that good on the counter, may be the team that had Duff and Roben in it, but i think that was less counter attacking and more coming from a very solid midfield base, it was nearly impossible to penetrate. Very lucky to have Lampard too, in my opinion. That blend of Lampard, Essien and Makele was excellent and really hard to play against.

Inter Milan. Real Madrid got that way against Barcelona, who were better than Liverpool it Man City.

Not in my recollection, Inter were painful to watch, horrible percentage football in my opinion, i didnt like watching real when he was there either. I wouldn't have considered either a particularity counter attacking teams, same old Jose system really. It was successful, so you cant argue i just dont think you can still be successful with it. Just my opinion. If he proves me wrong fair play. Dont think he will though.
