Playing like Arsenal

think the fact they have an attacking mid who cost £42m whereas the other three attackers are all £20m rated players.

whilst ours is a young striker on loan, someone from the accademy, and two wingers that cost a combined £10m. all our backups are free or on loan as well.

of course arsenal's movement and attack is going to better, our's should be terrible with the amount of money we've spent.

This nails it pretty much.

This really.

Our style is quite quite different.

Yeah I'd agree, arsenal are about quick passing football and attacking with speed.

We seem to more possession based passing with patient build up waiting for opurtunity's to be made rather than present themselves.

When there on form and on there game I'd say arsenal play the best football I've seen anywhere!

Compare that to what Wigan had to compete with yesterday

Quite.

But that "young striker on loan" is rated in the £25 million bracket and their starting striker was a kid with two or three starts under his belt and has yet to score a goal.

And the "£42 million midfielder" is widely regarded as being way over priced. He was dropped last week after a string of anonymous performances.

Putting forward the price of Arsenal's team compared to ours isn't much of an argument in explaining Saturday's defeat.

Because I am quite sure Citeh had more than one player yesterday who cost more than the whole Wigan team combined.

We could have buried them if Lukaku and Ross had made more of the two gilts edged chances we had when it was still 1-1.

It's a perfectly legitimate argument. Over the course of a season Arsenal will win more games than us because they have a superior team. Saturday was one of those games.

Wigan beating City was an exception, if City played them 20 times City would win the majority and the same could be said for Arsenal playing us.

Indeed, Mr. B.

But we aren't talking about Citeh playing "them 20 times", are we?

Just a one off cup tie.

(well, two if you count last year's final)

And the fact is that with a bit more composure from Lukaku when he had Barkley perfectly positioned alongside him and from Barkley himself when presented with a gaping goal frame we might well have been 3-1 up.

And what does that do you your bean counting argument?

Why it blows it clean out the water, my friend.

Just like Wigan did yesterday as well.

And if Arsenal had been a bit more composed in front of goal they'd have scored more than 4. So no, it doesn't really.

But it's not just a one off cup tie. You are comparing two cup ties. City v Wigan and Arsenal v Everton. The likelihood of both going to the underdog is low.
Everton are a good side but arsenal are better. They will beat Everton more than they will lose to them.
Same with City and Wigan, it just so happened they beat them yesterday and we lost to Arsenal on Saturday.
