Players who have came through the academy.....

Changing manager every 6 to 18 months isn't doin us any favours in that regard.
Hopefully things will settle down now for the next load of seasons and we should see a proper plan to promote players.
Spot on, i honestly believe it’s slowed down Davies’s progress as a player as well as others. Kenny should be with us not on loan, he got the chance with unsworth and koeman but then got axed!

Yeh but he's only been in place for 18 months or so

It's a strange one. Sambou has gone and is getting game time in the Dutch first division, and Evans now in the Bundesliga, and of course Robinson should really have gone to Milan this week. It suggests they're not complete no hopers, yet they can't seem to dislodge guys like Iwobi and Walcott, who are having complete stinkers.

It seems they don’t want to take a gamble on youth anymore, rewind a few years and moyes had to as his squads were always paper thin

You'd hope that the director of football is there to ensure continuity for precisely that reason.
That's a moot point Bruce as it must also depend on who picks the team, who dictates the style of play. I remember Marcel doing a meet and greet session at his first match in the Joe Mercer lounge, he was very impressive until I shook his hand it was clammy and weak to the extent it gave me doubts about the sincerity of the man himself. What do his duties encompass especially now Ancelotti is in charge.

I suppose that was my point, as any squad that has essentially had 17 players to use is pretty thin. We made the conscious decision to retain Baines rather than Robinson, Tosun was given game time rather than Gordon.

Robinson cant even get games for the US, im not sure hes what people think he is.

Defo still not convinced by Gordon myself either, stinks like Dowell to me.

I’m not saying sidibe is a bad signing but we obviously don’t have that much faith in Jon joe kenny to send him out and get a RB on loan. Perhaps we should be a barca and put in buy back clauses for guys such as Robinson etc

...another product of Cardinal Heenan school around the corner from me in West Derby. Indeed, in his U15 year he was one of 3 England schoolboys (John Walsh who played for the Reds and Alan Moogan) from that same school which is an amazing achievement.
Did Alan Morgan have a brother who played in the same youth team as him.

Always been worried about our scouting since a Shankly scout invited me for trials at Liverpool which I politely refused reasoning if good enough for them the blues would be knocking at any mo but not a peep. Since then Everton fans who really made the grade did so at Liverpool - Fowler, Owen, Mcmanaman, Carragher, Gerard(?), Rush.

The entire reason Everton and England turned to mush can be laid at the door of Everton's poor scouting system it was like a young, taller Zico of Brazil was on their doorstep and they were too pished to realise.

Steve McManaman signed for Liverpool for the simple reason he was offered a one year contract by Everton and a three year one by Liverpool, don’t think Gerrard was ever an Evertonian.

Part of the problem must be the turn over in managers plus the nondescript wasters still on our books. Young Benny got a show under Rhino but there is a dearth of those actually making it. We should follow the Anfield format where every team at the club play to the same formation thus a young player is honed to play in a particular way for his position. This processing helps lever young talent into whatever role they play and is aimed in the long term for the benefit of the senior squad.
It's not as though our kids don't win things, their double last term was unique but that team is scattered to all corners out on loan under the guise of gaining experience when I believe it makes many disenchanted.
Carlo really does need to over haul the entire youth system and hone it for the first team rather than a rental trade for the lower leagues. Can anyone find a reason for Luke Garbutt still being on our books, he must be due for retirement shortly.
I thought everyone knew the reason Luke Garbutt is still here, MONEY, he was given an excellent contract of £25,000 a week when he signed it, he’s set for life and will another contract off a club when we sign him off at the end of this season. Niasse, Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Martina, Besick, Walcottt, Bolasie and maybe a couple more are in the same nice cosy and comfortable position, that’s why we can’t feckin’ get rid of them, and the people who signed them have left the club while getting rich while they were making these ridiculous deals.

By the way Liam Walsh scored the winner for Coventry City yesterday, he is on loan from Bristol City who signed him from Everton for £2M about three seasons ago, he didn’t have the patience to stay here, a cracking little player who can still achieve his ambitions in my opinion.

Great to see Liam doing well at Coventry. I was reading an article about him last week in which Bristol City's manager said they were keeping a close eye on him and haven't given up on him despite sending him out on loan. His thinking was that he felt Liam was at the stage where he needed to play 40 games in a season, which would help him to improve his weaknesses. He also felt that Liam was best suited to a three man midfield than two, due to 'weaknesses' in his game. Prior to yesterday when he scored the winner and played a lovely pass for the other goal, he was 2nd in the statistics for midfield players in Div !. Still a player to keep an eye on!

Yes, Imwatched him from when he was sixteen in the youth team, improved every year until he was suddenly sold, a kid who always wanted to win, hated losing, got a cob on with himself when he made a rick, got a cob on with his mates when they cocked up, great with free kicks and corners, dictated plenty of games. I think the reason he left was ambition, didn’t want to spend another couple of years in the U23’s, had a loan spell at Yeovil, I think, did well, then Harry Rednapp took him to Birmingham City on loan, but Harry got his briefs and P45 not longer after and the new manager preferred older and more experienced players so he came back to Everton. I don’t know the kid but always thought he would well and still do, that’s why I’ve kept my eye out for him.
