Players we sold too soon.

I cried when we sold Bally.

...where were you when Kennedy was shot moment for me too. Clearly remember my Mum waking me up with the full back page of the Daily Mirror announcing 'Ball sold to Arsenal'. No rumours in those days, just done deals so imagine how much of a shock it was. He continued to be a top player for the Gunners as well as a thorn in the side of our neighbours.

If we look at the great squad from our 80s hayday, there was one player who we sold who would have improved it, he has been mentioned but not acknowledged,
Steve Mcmahon

Peter Beagrie for me, oh how he drove me mad when not content with beating a man three times he would do it again while everyone stood in the box thinking " FFS just cross the bloody thing "

Kanchelskis, should have moved heaven and earth to keep him. Phill Babb still has nightmares about him.

Steve McMahon is a kopite cnut, should've sold him sooner.

I fell out of love with Everton ( I was only 10 ) for a few weeks after he went to Highbury. I still can't understand why it happened, it has to be the most bizarre decision made ever.

Lineker is the best example by far.
Totally gutted when we sold him!
Would liked to have seen Steven and Stevens stay a little longer too

the thing about most of the sales is we got really good prices, bar yakubu, which was an absolutely shocking sale for me. I didn't see the point in accepting a measly £1.5m for someone who could easily have regained form and been a great goalscorer - as he proved the next season at Blackburn.

With players like rodwell, anichebe, lescott, johnson etc. we got good deals for them, so therefore it can't be seen as letting them go too early.

With a player like rooney who we sold for well under £10m his actual worth, it was too soon. We should have said no, had him another year and then got possibly £35m.

Was sad to see beckford go, £4m was probably his worth, if not higher, but he got 10 goals for us and was a great option. People saying they haven't done much in their career since are getting it wrong. Things don't work like that, look at Pienaar for example, was great for us, went to spurs, couldn't replicate his form, came back to us and all things were rosy again.

we're not just any old football club.
