I wonder how a player feels when the fans sing their name, I often look at the player and its like they ignore it but I think if that was me and the whole crowd was singing my name or a chant designed for me I would hold my hands up to them every single time or I'd laugh. Perfect example yesterday was when Barry made that decisive block and seconds later we cheered his name, how do you think he felt inside? It must feel unbelievably fantastic! I've noticed when a player is down receiving treatment an the fans are in full voice, I've seen Ross Barkley just standing there looking at us and I wonder what is he thinking right now?
I know players clap the fans when coming out, going in, corners etc but are they told to ignore the fans when their name is being sung?
Do you think they go to bed at night an just think about the game and the crowd? Being on the pitch surrounded by four walls of fans must be one of the best feelings in the world. I wonder if they lie in bed or drive home in their car thinking they were singing for me.
It must make them feel great and I wonder how Barry felt yesterday because he was well within earshot of it. I wonder what he was thinking?
