I was just emailing my mate, who is an Arsenal fan, and came up with the following guesswork on how the transfer negotiations are going. I thought I might as well bung it on here as well, in case anyone else agrees.

EVERTON – Thanks for letting us talk to this player that you’ve always clearly valued at £6million. We’ve agreed personal terms with him, told the papers, and put an announcement on our website. We’d now like to offer you £2.5 million for him.

ARSENAL – But we said from the outset that we wanted £6 million.

EVERTON – Yes, we know. We’d like to offer you £2.5 million.

ARSENAL – But we’ve already got an offer on the table for £5 million, and there are loads of other teams interested.

EVERTON – Oh, right then. We’ll have to think about things.

We’ve thought about things, and we’d now like to offer you £2.5 million.

ARSENAL – Look ! Get serious. If you come back with an offer of over £4 million we’ll at least talk. Otherwise get lost you bunch of time-wasters!

EVERTON – OK. We can tell you’re upset. We’d like to offer you £2.5 million – what d’you think?

If you change the selling team, player name and values, I think that this pretty well represents all incoming (ie not incoming) Everton transfers, for this season and as for a good many years in the past. There used to be the odd variation where we’d agree the fee with the club and then offer the player 30% of his current salary, but we now seem to go exclusively for derisory offers to the clubs, and feigned surprise when nothing comes of it. It's the Everton way!

once bill gets his negotiating speedo's on the deal will be sealed, he likes to do it the oldskool way, none of these tight fitting muscle compressing suits for our willie, it's spitz style or no deal.

£6M is unrealistically high for a player who is not a first teamer and has one year left on his contract.

£3M tops methinks! (y)

Agreed !!!!!

Arsenal will be pushing for more - seems like they are selling everything bar the bog seats at the Emirates at the moment - Do you think they maybe skint ?????

We on the other hand will not want to blow all of our £7.43 transfer budget on one player and will be trying to negotiate some outrageous loan deal with an option to buy for 72 pence should he prove to be real deal:lol::lol:

Sounds good to me but I think tey've aready recieved a £5M from Hamburg so I doubt they'll settle for less.

I doubt they're as skint as we appear to be! Surely with the transfer fees they've raked in recently, coupled with the revenue they accumulate per home game at the Emirates, they are on sound financial footing.

Although having said that, the fact that they bid £6m for Chamakh and refused to go higher (arguably I would say he's worth upto £8m) would seem to be indicative of something going awry, or maybe Wenger is just "doing a Moyes" and attempting to be as financially savvy (stingey) as possibly during a time of economic hardship.

Arsenal are very rich, they just have a World Class Stadium to pay for at the moment. I cant see them wanting to throw away £2m tho, if we bid £3m and somebody else bids £5m, who would accept the lesser fee?

Why dont everton say this is our bid, if its turned down move onto the next player instead of waiting a week or longer for an answer or to make up their minds hes not worth it because we are going to end up with no one!!!!
