Wenger said on SSN that there was interest from us - but he is still an Arsenal player and no deal would be done untill next week.

Im thinking Lescott is staying if we are haggling and not panicking about getting him in, But then again....................!

"At the moment there is an interest from Everton, but he is still our player," the Frenchman told reporters at a press conference this afternoon.

"He has an opportunity to go because he has only one year on his contract and we'll see what happens in the next week."

His contracts up next month and Arsenal want £6million for a sub standard defender, who hopefully wont start for us. Wow.

£3million and no more. I'd still want us to spend £3million on Right back and Right mid before we do centre half though.

Thought it was the end of next season mate.

Don't know why I said next month, I think I was thinking about when I would get banned from here again

Yeah, it's end of next season.

HATCHET MAN: Why Toffees will come unstuck by bringing in Arsenal flop Philippe Senderos | Mail Online

If Philippe Senderos joins Everton, he will only make them weaker.
What David Moyes is thinking in pursuing the defender is anybody's guess. Senderos may be intelligent when his head is in the books but he seems to find the idea of preventing other teams scoring goals a very confusing concept.

Everton have been built as a well organised, hard-to-beat side but if Joleon Lescott is replaced by Senderos the foundations will have been compromised.

The team has to be strong all the way through the middle and while Lescott may not be worth the £20million-plus Manchester City may be ready to pay for him, he is still a better defender than Senderos by far.

Everton cannot claim to be a leading club any more but they can still have ambition.
They have somehow managed to get by without the money of some of their rivals too but if they sell their better players and bring in cheaper, inferior replacements a long struggle awaits.

An awful story.

This is also very true.

I don't rate Senderos though, and neither does Wenger obviously, why should we have him? Oh yeah, because we are not a leading club and all that b*****ks.

Senderos has a lot of experience , but if Moyes isn't too bothered about buying an English addition , then isn't the world wide market a much cheaper way of landing a bigger fish ?

Certainly that is the case, but personally I don't think Senderos is the answer. Unfortunately I think Rodwell will be thrown in at the deep end against Arsenal.

Duffy is the other option Moyes has used in the friendlies, but much too early for him

I don't know about the term ' deep end ' here .
Starting there for the first time in a competetive match against a team with the fire power of Arsenal springs to mind visions of diving bells , ocean wrecks and Grenadier fish .
I'd rather Moyes put his boots on if I'm honest .
