Obviously wish him all the best and happy for him that he no longer has to live a lie and can truly be himself
Feel massively for his wife though. Imagine how she must have felt after all those years of marriage? I hope she's okay and can move on
Pretty much the reaction my mates gave when I came out, but over some beers instead of anything posh like a meal.
I don't have a problem with the ppl coming out making a big deal, as they've probably felt they had to hide it for a long time for various reasons, but it certainly shouldn't be a big deal to everyone else. Unfortunately society (eurgh!) seems to be becoming more segregated and hateful at the moment. Part of me thinks the papers etc shouldn't be making a big deal out of, and part thinks clearly we still need 'rolemodels' for people who feel that way to look up to and give them the strength to be true to themselves.Very similar to then Jameela jamil coming out, the press and other celebs need to stop making a huge fuss about it. It’s not revolutionary anymore to come out, it’s very accepted so in my opinion glorifying it actually makes things worse, as well as making it a big announcement on national tv.
Only people who should be getting the attention are his wife and children who are a victim of his life long secret.
...
When “Lil Nas” was asked if he was gay, he just replied “yeah i thought it was obvious”( no special announcement or attention and life went on.
Send Phil a link to our transgender thread mate.Is he not bi? I know gay people sometimes are with women to keep the secret but to shag her enough to have 2 kids there must be some attraction there. Not sure how you can go from that to completely 100% gay.

Hmmm, maybe. But I'm very much a glass-half-full, benefit of the doubt kinda guy, so I like to take people at the word as much as possible!!The two that have come out this week have both coincidently come under criticism recently, hard to not believe if its been waiting to come out to reduce it.

Honestly thought he was gay already.
Noticed in his interview clip this morning his voice has suddently, mysteriously changed.
I have a friend of many years who got married in secret because it was to a man. He is what you'd have traditionally called or thought of as a 'man's man'.I remember this guy at work and we all went out for dinner and he made a big announcement that he was gay despite being engaged to a girl. Took him ages and he really built up to it then when he told us everyone just said " yeah mate we already know" was pretty obvious tbf
Fair point mate. But what are you supposed to say? It's more of a reassuring smiling "i thought so" than a dismissive "yeah everyone knows" in my case anyway.I might just be being a bit precious here but I've always found it a bit out of order when someones response to someone coming out as gay is saying something along the lines of 'yeah, everyone already knows'... kinda gives the impression (unintentionally perhaps) that them coming out isn't a big deal when it's probably been a huge deal for them, especially if they've been pretending otherwise for multiple decades.
His voice is different because it’s not his “TV Presenter” voice. Do you think Trevor McDonald would sound the same as he does having a drink down his local as he does when reading the day’s headlines? There is quite a lot of good material on YouTube on how public speakers adopt a different tone while on the job
