Its common in the US to refer to players as weapons in a positive way, often in American football. For example, "Joe's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield makes him a real weapon in the passing game".

Yeah, I understand that. I think it was on love Island when my girlfriend was watching last night, as someone said "he's a right weapon". But they meant it in a good way.

Good player but part of a culture at the club where all the players thought they had massively overachieved and were comfortable. They didn’t understand the fan desire to push on and win things.
