The main issue I have with all our centre back is their technical ability, which is basically non existent. Holgate has looked the best imo, but still makes mistakes. I thought Keane was a lot better than he seems. Let’s hope is a first season confidence issue.
But what happens is they are so scared to give the ball away, they end up passing it square or back to Pickford all game. Jags on Saturday passed the ball straight to stoke players 3 times in the first 15 minuets. And they weren’t difficult passes. So when we have the ball at the back, it constantly gets filtered wide to Baines or Coleman. Very rarely do our centre backs try to drive forward into the opposition half. Or Look to play a straight 30yard pass to one of our attackers and maybe taking out 2/3 players from the other side in the process.
Just buying 2 technically better centre back and 1 midfielder would change our team dramatically imo.

The six yard box is his to own. He can jump in front of opposition players and reach up using his hands which if done properly should see him claiming every cross within reach.
There's no excuse for a keeper not to challenge a ball in his own box. Doesn't matter if he's going up against Crouch or Aaron Lennon he should be jumping in front and collecting the ball in his hands.

Awful captain. Sure he can do a job 10 games a season with fresh legs against poor teams or when a team doesn't perform, but his time is up. Been here far too long. Thanks and goodbye from me, tbh.

Ain't fair to him the criticism he gets most of the time. We need more depth in his position. If we wait much longer this could turn into a Tim Howard situation; stays too long and his poor performances at the end overshadow his history as a very decent player.

Expecting him to be handed a contract extension in the summer, and still be associated with the club in 15 years time.
Don't think Jags is the type to hang around if, when he plays, he can't keep up...whether he moves or retires is another matter.
The idea of the captain saying "HOPEFULLY" next season is beyond words. The last insult of Moyes to our club was appointing him captain on his way out the door.
