Overall...him, Distin, Lescott...that period of time was the best centre back parings in our premier league era imo.

Set a benchmark for the level we need.

Personally, hope he goes to Sheff United next season. Become an important player on and off the pitch for them before he retires.

Good player, good servant and always seems a good lad Jags, probably too nice a fella to be a proper Captain but in all honesty other than Seamus we haven't had many leaders to choose from, good luck Jags, you will get a great reception when you return from us blues.

A 1 year contract extension wouldn't be the worst thing in the world providing he is 4th choice and rarely plays.

Model professional and seems highly respected in the dressing room. The sort of figure we need really considering the influx of players.

For me Holgate and Pennington should be the defenders flogged in the summer as both realistically wont make it here and could get us £10-12 million to go towards making Zouma permanent.

Jags will be on high wages comparative to the squad. Needs to go.

As for Holgate... personally feel he's got a future here.

Great servant, no doubt about that. Always wore that royal blue jersey with pride, dignity and respect. Will always remember him fondly for that.

Having said that, I think shouldn't be led by sentiment. It's time to thank him for his loyal services and move on. He had his time as a player at this club.

Thank you captain Jags for the memories and all the best of luck for your future career and life.

Jags has done very well for the club and I’m glad he’s not leaving (I assume he’s leaving) as a completely washed up player. He still put in some good shifts here at the end. I do hope he goes back to Sheffield, he left when they were relegated and it would be poetic for him to return as they come back up.
