If off, was a bit underwhelming. Remember Slippys last game? Yes he was a great player but the whole stadium was on it for the whole game, we had a little song at the end.

Yeah, there's a lot of rumours going around on Twitter, saying he looked upset and this might be his last game. Maybe it's because his contract runs out and he's not signed. Has Silva said anything in his post-match interview yet?

Up there with the very best until that awful cruciate injury in his prime reduced his effectiveness. In his prime one of the best premier league centre halves we’ve had in the premier league era.

We would have had a much better chance in the FA cup final with him(plus Arteta and Yak) City signed their closest rivals best players at the time to help them climb up the league quicker. Barry from villa and Lescott from us. I feel if Jags wasn't seriously injured it would have been him.

So Everton in their first final appearance for years serious injuries ripped the spine out of our team. Jags, Arteta and Yak. Many would claim they weren’t the same players since. Can you imagine Chelsea (as good as they were then) facing a fully fit Everton without Terry, Lampard and drogba.

If this was his last appearance then it's a sad day.

Having been still in shorts at school in the eighties his partnership with Lescott was the best I've seen at Everton.

Even when Lescott left i remember Pat Nevin being asked if City had signed the best centre back in the country and his reply that he wasn't even the best centre back at Goodison.

Arsenal in their almost pomp wanted him and for whatever reason he didn't go and even if he had wanted to he didn't kick up a fuss and carried on being the model professional he is.

I remember his debut at Goodison when he came on as a sub in midfield and he put himself about and i liked his attitude but was unsure about his quality. When he found his position i was certain.

Had to take the blame for the Suarez goal in the world cup despite Gerrard inexplicably heading the ball backwards and then facing the cameras when Stevie me didn't have the testicles.

That goal at anfield.

A great club servant, and, in his day, one of the best central defenders in the league. Probably stayed a season too long but after nearly 400 games for us he has proved to be one of Moyes’ Best Buy’s.

He will for that alone! We’ll share the same regrets in that we never saw silverware during his time.
