A crowd is reactive to what they see on the pitch.

I don't know how many times this same point needs to be made.

Expectations are big here, if the players aren't meeting these expectations, or at least showing a willingness to, then they won't be happy-clapped off the pitch.

We are not a Huddersfield, just in the Premier League for the ride, we are a team paying a manager one of the biggest salaries in World football and a team who have spent a fair chunk of money.

If someone is paying their hard-earned money to watch us play, they have a right to express their opinion how they see fit.
Very true. Everyone has that right. However i sometimes wonder with all the millions upon millions spent everton football club utself have never trued to use goodison and its crowd to create a positive effect. Take celtic for example. Forgetting if you like them hate them or have no interest in them. The green brigade were formed some years ago due to the lack of a regular atmosphere which started to creep into celtic park just like goodison for the last 4/5 years. It has made a big big difference. I laugh when people call it koppite behaviour. Years ago we were the ones in the street end with banners flags and noise. We dont need big waving flags i understand that but having a pro actuve section behind the goal would have an positive effect. Look what has happened now. Lads who started going to goodison in the last 5 years have rarely seen a proper atmisphere. There have been 1 or 2 but the last proper one was against florintina. Thats crazy.

Fans have gotten used to moaning. If u start a chant now people nearly look at you as if what are they doing. ....They should be giving the team grief.

Look im not saying get out 10 ft flags drums. Prob nit our stlye. But look what has happened goodisin. Nobidy fears going there anymore . The last 2 managers cant seem to play the style of football to get goodison to react. Fans cant organise a section. I think 20 or so lads tried it. With all the millions spend on players wages etc i cannot understand why the club havent tried something. The old lady needs help. Not new cladding. It needs help from the club to create a positive atmosphere. No music. No frills. Just a section of fans who can offer positive noise when chips are down or football is dull. Because players and management currently and for the last number of years cant. We will all be sitting moaning for another couple if years. But the club will do nothing.
Flying my young lad 6 and girl 4 over for the first time for the wba game. Praying for a crunching tackle or bad ref decision so they can feel what i have felt many times.. but years ago!!:).

Like Reid but I don't take anything our ex-players say about the club seriously, they're all yes men for Kenwright barring the odd few like Southall.

It's one of the few things I really dislike about the club, former legends who care more about being in the good books than they do telling the ugly truth when it sometimes needs saying.

Reid's not the worst offender by any stretch but the way fans who demand more and refuse to accept mediocrity are painted as hot-headed idiots annoys me. As someone else said, we are not Huddersfield.

It's great to hear him talking about Everton with such passion. Can't help but think it would be great for more people like him to be involved in our current setup.

A few of the points he raised:

Koeman needs to settle on a formation and play the same team so the players know what to do.

Koeman needs to do what he can to raise the players confidence/morale.

Players need to step up and take more responsibility and show a bit more desire especially against the *****.

The fans need to get behind the team more. Booing at half time is helping nobody. Reference to the B Munich game when the fans made the difference.

Boris Johnson is a ****.

I'd recommend it.
Spot on this bit. I’ve been saying it for years.

Spot-on. Graeme Sharp has been for years the worst culprit for this kind of behaviour.

When he's been on phone-ins, most Blues with criticisms of Kenwright have usually been dismissed as 'numpties' who need to 'get out more'.

Many of our ex-players seem to cosy up to BK for some reason.

I disagree with this. But let’s say the expectations warrant the booing etc. then it doesn’t change the fact that it does nothing to encourage the team.

As a collective Everton fans have a very bleak outlook on life. We always go in to the big games expecting to lose. It’s always “nah we’ve got no chance, they’ll batter us” etc. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we almost never turn up for the big occasions when we have such low expectations.

There’s been so many games when we’ve gone a goal or two up, then the opposition get back in to it and the whole stadium goes in to panic mode. Umming and aarrring whenever we lose the ball, putting the players under unnecessary pressure. John Stones springs to mind. The treatment he received here was utterly disgusting towards the end. No wonder Martinez took him out of the team.

The bottom line is the constant moaning and negative outlook is part of the culture of this club. Misery breeds misery and it will achieve nothing.

This.

I've actually got to the point were I don't really enjoy going the game too much these days. The incessant moans, groans and boos have become the norm over the last 8-10 yrs and, IMO, really spoils the match day experience. Saddens me to say but our fans have become massive bellends. This year is my 45th season and even during the dark days of the early 80s and mid 90s I never resented actually going the game.

It's the Sky and FIFA generation mate, a unrealistic sense of entitlement, like everything else in life

It is a two-way street. How do we let the club know that we aren't happy with what we're seeing on the pitch? I don't think sending cry-arse tweets to Everton's or Koeman's Twitter accounts does much.

On your second point, again, it is a two-way street. We've had managers like Moyes and Koeman dampening expectations and also club captains. If the team and management don't believe they can't win these games, then why should we?

At the end of the day, the fans are putting their money into the club, the players and manager are taking millions out of it.

I get annoyed at the people blindly clapping absolute waste of space players like Ashley Williams off that pitch after succumbing to yet another limp performance.

If I see a lack of effort on that pitch and we're losing, I'm going to boo, moan, etc. If others want to be superfans, then that's up to them. They can happy-clap the team into a relegation battle.

Nothing but the best is good enough... that's the motto I use to judge performance. I will never boo a player who gives their all, I'll abuse laziness or pure tactical incompetence from the manager.

Saying that, I absolutely hate those beauts who got on Barkley's back. Them as much as Koeman were forcing him out.

Oh look it's the kopite that likes to constantly have a pop at our fans.

Do me a favour and drop one of those 80kg weights onto your head please, obviously get someone to lift it for you so those stringy things you call legs don't buckle underneath you.
Keep your head firmly in that sand mate lol

We will never win anything with fans like you supporting us.

Do people not even do chants now? At Man United the other week when I went, they kept singing that obnoxious song about Lukaku's wang. Even the really bad teams have chants, some self-deprecating ones but it's better than sitting in silence.
