One of the best English players any of us will see in our lifetime.

He was one of those that a true football fan enjoyed watching. And a complete pro to boot.
 

Legendary player. It's a shame his career has ended after the great start he got off to last season.
 

Ahh its like my childhood is falling apart. Not that I like United but I grew up with the class of '92. Beckham Giggs Scholes The Nevs Butt etc. And I will admit up until I was nearly 7 I loved Man United. I remember making a clay portrait of Ryan Giggs when I was 5 or 6 in reception class haha! Bit sad that they are all coming close to retirement now!
 
Truly amazing player. Nothing more to say after reading the quotes from Zidane, Henry, Xavi etc...
 
Great player. Don't see where his nasty challenges detract from that. Zidane did some nasty stuff that was brushed under the carpet. Not just the Matrix head butt in the cup final where he was made out to be the victim. Still amazing footie players.

Good point it is the end of an era it makes you wonder when the next set of talent will come along in such numbers?
 
Had a superb career, but really time to bow out.

And he still has more money than me.
 
Found it really sad that his retirement didnt get as much media attention as it should have, could you imagine the fanfare if Beckham retired. I guess he retired as he went through the game though - low profile.

Really is a sad sight to see probably the best player of a generation retire, for me Englands biggest ever mess up - sad to think he retired so young from International duty and Beckham went on to super stardom for England. How the hell did that happen.
