Pass The Suchy

Suchy would be a good addition, wouldn't cost too much (rumoured fee is around £2-£2.5m) and is another typical Moyes-type player, he's versatile, and I could see him being played in defensive midfield (the position everyone seems to be crying out for) in a number of games against your Bolton's, Stoke's, Hull's etc. in order to establish himself, and then at the same time, you can play the kid at CB, the position he's made his own at a decent European club, if one of the CB's gets injured.

As for the Jagielka argument, both sides have valid points, but if he keeps getting away with these last ditch tackles (which he does more times than not), maybe he's not lucky, maybe he's just good at last-ditch tackles. Stop moaning.

It seems fans get easily decieved by Jags last gasp tackles but forget he has normally caused the problem in the 1st place by either being in a poor position or lacking in concentration.
Arsenal away being a prime example when he let a 6ft 4 blonde striker waltz into his space and let him have a free header to score.
Jags is not a good player in the slightest, he is average......at best and should be nowhere near a european sides squad never mind the 1st 11

I think your opinions are like tomato sauce on salad.

They are just wrong. You obviously watch a completley different game, or watch it upside down or something.

Didnt Jags get into the England squad based on his performances last year? Do you think Defenders who make last ditch saving tackles are bad defenders??? Maaaaate...youve never played then. There like gold. Rare gems.

Anyway this other cat...Suchy? Anyone seen him play?

whats all this talk of baines leaving, that would be devestating, fact is he is the best left back at the club, Lescott is good too, but fullbacks need to be able to attack, especially when we play peanuts on the left of midfield, as he is a more central player and drifts in, and baines is top notch going forward, and is a decent defender. please tell me Baines leaving is crap! As far as this suchy kid goes, i would say moyes sees him as a good yound cente back, and more importantly someone he may be able to mould into the holding mid we need.

I was one of Jags's big critics after the game against Arsenal, clearly no one should ever listen to me!! Hes proved his worth and quality and his displays have deserved international recognition.

Anyway back on point this lad sounds like a promising singing, i havnt seen him play but if Moyes likes him thats good enough me. Our squad has always had four centre backs and i always felt Moyes would bring another in this summer, exactly the profile of player i was hoping for young and promiseing. He could be a great replacement for Yobo when he signs for madrid for 10mill!:P

Neville gets in the England squad on his performances so whats your point?
And whats wrong with ketchup on salad?

Didnt he score 10 goals from full back last season? Clearly he does know how to attack

Lescott is definatly good going forward. When he's able to run in a straight line and power past people he's at his best. At times though he can be clumsy and lacks the agility of a proper fullback. If where trying to play possession football then I'd rather have Baines in there. He's better at keeping the ball and is more composed. Lescott is more of a counter attacking fullback. If we hit teams on the break his pace and power really gives opposition teams something to think about.

You can't doubt Lescott's abilities going forward. 4/5 assists and 10 goals proves he's a threat up there.

As I've said I'd rather have Baines at left back and Lescott at centre back but it has to work right. We need to add height to the side if Baines is to be given a go. Its needed mostly at set pieces where having too many small players can make you vulnerable. If we don't get more height into the side then I can't see Baines getting into the team. I've always said Moyes should buy a taller right back and drop Neville but I can't see it happening.

he could still score from set pieces at CB. Goals don't really give an indication of how well your fullbacks attack anyway, really you want them to be able to provide opportunities for yak and cahill. Yeah Lescott can do it, but he is certainly not as good as baines at making space for himself and getting crosses into the box, or beating his opposing fullback and getting in on goal himself.

Hasnt he got to be attacking to score the goals? As for point about making crosses, he produced countless excellent crosses last season and easily beats the overrated Baines

In terms of quality on the ball and crossing ability Baines is better for me. He's a natural footballer and a natural fullback. Lescott is definatly more direct though and gets beyond teams more with his pace and power.

Crossing wise Lescott is very hit and miss. Some excellent crosses followed by poor crosses. Saying that though he is a centre back so its expected.

I don't see how Baines is overrated. When he got a run in the team at the start of the season he was our best player. Even Moyes admitted it and he has some excellent all round performances agains the likes of Man utd, Aston Villa, Bolton, Blackburn and Metalist.

If you think baines is overated that's fair enough, you are perfectly entitled to be wrong

When did he make these excellent crosses? The one to Anichebe against Brann and that is about it.
