At the end of the day, he's going to another club. Now, I agree we my not want another injury prone striker but one team is going to get a really good deal out of Owen - low transfer, average in the modern game wages for a big team, 10 goals a season if fit.
Like any deal that seems too good to be true, there's draw backs. The draw back here is that he's injury prone.
But, here's 2 points -
If we're going to "step up" to the next level we have to pay "next level" wages and transfer fees.
If we cant do both, compromises have to be met ie pay less transfer fee and more wages or vice versa, strike up deals.
Year and year class players fall through the clubs hands either down to wages or transfer fees. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet or find compromise.
I think the Owen deal, if he wants to come and Moyes wants him and the club can strike a deal, is a very good one.
