Holding midfielders in that mold are to a man overrated. It’s a style of play that only works because of the sizable imbalance of talent in football. When you have 11 players better than the best player on the other side you can have Sergio Busquets.

That archetype of player is massively overrated. He’s good. Jorginho was fine. They ride the coattails of their better teammates. Sergio Busquets still hasn’t quit Messi.

Not having the busquets take. He’s one of the best I’ve ever seen in that position. Highly intelligent footballer who 99.9% of the time gives the correct pass, especially his deceptively good forward passes. Always has time on the ball, and when he doesn’t he’s able to manoeuvre out of tight situations with great feet. I bet messi would consider him one of his most important and effective team mates of all time.

Bruno Fernandez
Massively overrated, looks decent and consistent in a poor, very poor United side. A great player nah a little bit above average PL player.

Another who’s performances don’t match the hype, it’s just simply because of the badge on his shirt

Was a very good defender for maybe 2-3 seasons under Klopp were Liverpool didn’t have to defend too much as they were dominant in most games, now over the past 2-3 seasons he has been bang average, only the past couple of months have the media turned against their ‘darling’ and are highlighting some of his shocking defending, never engages a player who runs at him.

I’ve been in GOT for a very long time, seen posters such as Damo, stomached the contrarian Dave, and this by far and above is the stupidest post I’ve ever seen.

Hasn't scored anywhere the near the amount goals you'd assume he has when you look at his trophy haul. Played for huge clubs in England, Spain and Italy. Even captained Spain when they won the Euros, all when he's basically average. Has to have the best agent in the business.

Nah like I was good at it, but what made me good at it was just letting other guys do the work mostly. There’s a skill to it no doubt, and our team functioned better when I was there (basically stopped playing because of concussion) but should Rodri win ballon d’or over Erling Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne? Theres been lots of overhyped players in my lifetime, but I cant remember anyone being more overrated than Big Virg.

Overhyped, never gets a foot in, runs away from the ball and always the fault for Liverpool in big games.

A good centre half? Absolutely. Hype train is insane.

Shevchenko, Pogba, Morata probably 3 most overrated i can remember.
