Outswingers

How come we always seem to put outswinging corners in? Has anyone noticed this, would we be better mixing it up a bit? Surely it gets easier for the opposition if we keep putting the same delivery in.

I used to always throw a few quid on the centre halves (for a headed goal from set pirces) lol

Should mainly stick to inswingers if we are doing corners into the box. They have a much, much higher success rate

Martinez might wanna look back at our old 80s tactic of sheedy / steven whipping the ball to the near post for a Sharpie flick on. Scored bag loads doing that.

just fkn tw*t it and hope for the best

unsy was always worth a couple of knicker first goal, took a few penno's and that ya see

Outswingers are good when you connect because you can get more powerfull headers on them but if you don't its out of the box but inswingers when you get the right cross in you only have to direct it but theader is ussaly less powerful but is dangerous when you don't get the header
also keepers are weary of collecting outswingers

Martinez probably prefers the outswinger because not many goals are scored from corners so if no one gets on it it comes back to us and we can build an attack again. Saying that I prefer inswingers to the near post because the keeper can't get to it and it just takes someone to get a touch on it to put the opposition under threat.

Yeah my instinct is that inswingers lead to more goals but also more loss of possession.

I get the argument that you should sue both so defences don't know what's coming but if outswingers are what we're used to and drilled for then what's the harm?

I just don't think we make the most of our corners. As already mentioned, with regard to hinchcliffe corners, that's what I was used to years ago. My first derby was the two nil when big dunc headed one in. Classic. Rideout slid in for the other.

Speaking of Rideout, does anyone remember how good he was at pressing the keeper when they had to deal with a back pass? I think the whole crowd thought he was going to close it down.
