European players can always be a bit hit and miss, often take a year to settle in, so going for a player like aimir is a bit silly really or should I say a risk not worth taking.

Iv said before I'd take Frimpong, young and has looked promising. Could end up good may prove to be not good enough, but cheap wages and would bulk up the squad as an understudy for Gibson.

I would take richard dunne on a one or two year contract over any other center backs mentioned, experienced,would be a good squad player and he wouldnt be on big wages either. Sell heitinga and we would have jagielka, distin, duffy,dunne,stones and hibbert if needs be who can play center back.

Richard Dunne, Yossi Benayoun, Antolin Alcaraz, Maynor Figueroa - we should be consiering those four, and dependent on how low we can keep signing on fees and their wages, and how fit they can prove themselves to be, I've seen enough quality in all of them to warrant signing.

Dunne is past it BIG TIME, wouldnt touch him with a ****ty stick. Figueroa id take on a free. He is 28(i think) and can cover LB and CB, relatively low wages. Ship Heitinga out, Fig IN, use Heitinga money elsewhere.

Past it or not, he's still a better option than Figueroa who has always been terrible.

He had injury problems, if we got him back fit he would be a good option. If we sell heitinga, which looks likely, we need another experienced center back, and getting one in for free would allow us to spend the money we have on more important positions.
