Apparently West Ham are signing Lacina Traore on loan from Monaco on loan until end of season with no prospect of a permanent deal. He's just joined Monaco from Anzi and apparently they don't want/need him until next year, so are sending him out. This guy is 6'8 and a great prospect, albeit a massive mercenary.

I don't think they can afford to spend extravagantly. They need value and there probably won't be too much of that to be had in January. I agree though that not making the top 4 would be pretty disasterous. If they could tighten up defensively they probably have enough goals in Rooney, Van Persie and Januzaj to push them up the table. Zaha could be a secret weapon too. It's difficult though because they already have a lot of centre backs (Evans, Vidic, Ferdinand, Smalling and Jones) and I don't think the fans would take well to another holding midfielder coming in, having already spent £27m on Fellaini.
