Other Clubs Transfer Window 2025-2026.

Would Palace even sell Mateta to Forest? Don't they just hate them now after getting kicked out of the EL? I wouldn't give them anything.

Mateta to Forest seems ludicrous from every angle. Palace surely don’t want to sell to them for many reasons, Forest have Jesus, Awoniyi, the new fella, and Wood to come back so no chance he’d get the minutes he wants there.

The lad from Villa makes sense, though. Looks like an Ayew type wide forward that works well in your system.
No, we wouldn't sell to Forest unless they offered ridiculous money but I don't believe they were/are serious bidders. It's just more mischief making from Maranakis before our game at Forest on Sunday. I doubt whether Mateta will play now anyway. He had a golden period with us between mid 23/24 and all of 24/25 but he is bang out of form and a bit disinterested.
The Villa fella looks a better bet and will probably mean Sarr moving to play down the middle.
Three of the next four games are Forest (a) Burnley (h) and Wolves (h).
Crammed in are also The Vermin (a) and Mostar (Bosnia) over two legs.

Seems we're not doing any buisness this window - which is a bit of a shame. I get we don't want to be fleeced in this market (especially look at other teams buys), and it's the sensible thing to do. But like yourselves, it feels we're a signing or two from being able to kick on and challenge for europe and that's all i really want form my club.

Huge fear that we're overhyping our recruitment team off a once in a lifetime window, and we'll sell in the summer and regress.

I remember being on a Fulham site I think when they signed a Dutch winger (previously at Liverpool and I was living in Istanbul at the time so saw him up close playing for Besiktas). He was sh*te and said to the Fulham people that he would continue to be so. He went there I think in Jan and was great for them. So take that onboard when I say that Guessand has been one of the worst players I've seen playing for Villa in a long time.

 Thanks!

Bananas if they've gone to that trouble just to disrupt their next opponents. Far from unbelievable, though. Cretinous club.

Mateta is 29, bang out of form and is carrying a long term niggle. They have four other main strikers in the squad (albeit Wood is injured). Why do they want him? Let alone pay £40m for him?
As I said, it seemed very weird for those very reasons. I am just incredibly naive and don't make the connection straight away between transfer rumours and potential jiggery pokery.

Do you think Mateta's good form was also a lot to do with Glasner's style of play.

The way Palace transition that ball quick and centrally the midfielders turn then look for the through balls plays into Mateta's style, being able to turn and face goal quickly

That's not the way Dyche plays though

A lot of teams fall into that trap and end up paying the price for it.

Its an ego thing, thinking they can repeat there magnificence every window

Yes, Mateta fitted Glasners system perfectly, his hold up play and coming deep for the ball was as big a contribution as his goals. He is not so good at getting onto the end of crosses.
