We cant let players leave on a free, he been an key player this year and is a great player to have in the squad. Easy decision in my eyes.

Should have been left until the new manager had been appointed.

We don't want a player stuck on decent wages who our manager doesn't want.

think we need people like him around even if he is just a squad player tbh. i agree with what you say, but i can't see any manager turning an england international away from the club, even if he doesn't feature in his/her's 1st team plans.

i was okay with 2 years, then again i thought he was only 30/31. Suppose a 2 year deal at 32 is about right, 1 year rolling after that though if he's still good enough

What really worries me is that the chap from the Next Manager thread who is adamant Stubbs is going to be appointed also said Osman was getting a new deal this week...

Oh dear

Not a big issue really...Osman is a good member of the Everton squad. Bigger issue to me is where Hughes and Pulis end up because if its Goodison, that will be the end for me

i actually love osman, but can people stop throwing 'england international' around.... its embarassing.

lets get england international kevin davies in ay

Glad to hear it. Perfect squad player to help us transition. 2 years sounds right. Hoping he's not a starter more than 30% of those games, but a perfect player to have around the club right now.

He is a cracking player, and a great example to our kids. 2 years at a minimum, he should get.

But what if our new manager hates him and doesn't want to play him? We'll be stuck with an unhappy player on good wages who's not being used.

We should have waited for our manager to arrive before we did it, just in case.

If he performs we'll be glad he's been contracted. If he doesn't then he can leave and we'll be pleased he's been contracted because we'd then get a transfer fee for him. A win-win. What's the problem?
