Opposition players who you respect

Agree with all of these except Keane. Thought he disgraced himself with the Haaland incident and I lost all respect for him doing that to a fellow professional.

Funny how we interpret things in different ways, I respected him more for being truthful. I have no doubt that players have vendettas and they do kick one another. I did when I played and I knew plenty who did. It annoys me greatly when we see atrocious tackles going in and so called pundits saying professional footballers wouldn't intentionally hurt a fellow professional. We can see tackles for ourselves and make up our own minds as to whether they are trying to hurt one another.
Keane kicked Haaland and owned up, I would like more honesty.

Harmed his reputation as a footballer, and chances of becoming a great manager with comments he has made since he retired aswell.
If there was one player who you would bank on becoming a great manager while he was playing it would of been keane, but he has completely destroyed that.

Special mention to Sunderland legend Paul McShane... he does try, bless him. But I bet he'd be a different animal in a Liverpool shirt. Suddenly, mysteriously, absolutey unplayable with Bolasie too shid-scared to take him on, just because it's "standard chartered" instead of... I dunno, Boylesports(?) on his shirt and there are no white stripes to break up the red.

Keane snapped his cruciate himself kicking out at Haaland so extracted revenge on him years later by virtually ending his career and you respect him because he "owned up" to it? In his disciplinary hearing he backtracked massively on his book claiming it was artistic license.

“I have never in my career set out to deliberately injure any player,’ Keane said.

“In the incident involving Haaland I was making a genuine effort to play the ball."

He was a great player, but a snake and an absolute bell end.
