Just a quick story that kinda hit me about where we're at.
This morning, a lady, getting off the train at my local subway line, had an accident. One of her legs got trapped between the stopped train and the platform. There was a great response from the public who banded together to push the train carriage back to free the womans leg. Her leg was in rough shape, bleeding badly. Someone started to call 911 to get an ambulance and she screamed to them not to as it would cost her $3000.
Great people, crappy systems.
Being massachusetts, this lady probably had insurance but with a ridiculously high deductible.

ding ding ding, well it took a while but it's finally arrived, hot off the press, the stupid conservative take on soccerball.
Noticed he said baseball is the purest sport after castigating soccer for too many goals on set plays. Every play in baseball is a set play.
Agreed - and I love baseball - I grew up playing bad soccer and decent baseball. And I know which I watch more of these days, and what my kids played, and what I referee. Speaking of watching, time to check reddit/soccerstreams to see if there's a match from Asia on that I can geek out on....
I have no problem with baseball, I just find his faults of soccer--too subjective and too many set plays--to also apply to baseball (calling a player out at second, etc.), but somehow baseball is more "pure".
Would love to know his thoughts on American Football which is all set plays.

As you grow up you read about what was acceptable language in days gone by to describe minorities etc, how people behaved and you assume we are continually advancing to a more equal society, at least from a social point of view if not economical. Am I just reading too much about it or for the first time possibly in the existence of mankind are we actually moving backwards in this regard, the attacks on the 'PC-Brigade' all in the name of free speech, dangerous paid for morons like rubin and shapiro posing as intellectuals, immigrants as bogey men and political tools, all adding up to the normalization of racist, sexist attitudes and a bigger divide being created all for the benefit of a few rich folk. The right wing don't even anger me anymore, it just depresses me
