Oh, I support all forms of sports for health and enjoyment. But they're just not blue riband events and never will be.Nah. Inclusive is better. Show promise/excellence in any Olympic sport and you will be supported. Far better than chucking everything at a few runners.

The Games is basically split into two:
First week all the niche sports to take centre stage
Second week for track and field to take centre stage
I'm not disputing that. I'm saying that those silvers won by Muir, Hodgkinson and the 4x100 mens sprint team are multiple times more important in terms of status to golds taken in cross country mountain biking, the mixed triathlon relay and sailing.Yeah, sure, the track and field is the centre piece, and rightly so. But, for most of the sports represented, an Olympic Gold is the pinnacle.
You clearly haven't watched it if that is what you think it isThe Madison: basically an event for cyclists who dont specialise in anything, so the sports' governing bodies created it for them for something to do?

It's just the way it is and always will be.
I think most people will agree with me that it's a dog's breakfast of an event...and that's from someone who looks forward to the velodrome events. You clearly haven't watched it if that is what you think it is
I think it’s alright of an event. Tactical and shows great endurance. The Madison: basically an event for cyclists who dont specialise in anything, so the sports' governing bodies created it for them for something to do?
Well it seems like you like the sprint events. But not the ones that involve strategy and pacing. Or maybe it's once again a case of you putting down events that Britain have done well inI think most people will agree with me that it's a dog's breakfast of an event...and that's from someone who looks forward to the velodrome events.
It looks to me like the pair that can be arsed seeing it through to the end will win it.I think it’s alright of an event. Tactical and shows great endurance.
My legs were going for them. What a finish from the Brits. Left it a bit late but those last few laps were brilliant
Take a look at the thread and tell me that. In fact, you 'liked' one of my complimentary posts yesterday. Thanks.Well it seems like you like the sprint events. I think I'd rather sit through one of Walter Smith's games in charge than that madison again.
Dave, the season is upon us, can you please try and find a way to make us happyTake a look at the thread and tell me that. In fact, you 'liked' one of my complimentary posts yesterday. Thanks.
I think ths is more a case of you being uber patriotic and not being able to distnguish between real blue riband events and the variety of events that some GB have done well in. I think you'd be over the moon if there was a slug racing event as long as GB won it.
