…lottery funding making the big difference, I notice most medalists are mentioning it which leads me to believe they’ve been told to say it.

We're currently on 18 golds, 18 silver and 18 bronze, meaning 53 medals in total, so we're above our projections.

Take a look at the track and field medal table. GB 22nd with minor medals only. That's the substantial league table - the blue riband events of the games.

In that respect we've not seen any progress for the last few Games. All's thats happened is that specialised or niche sports have been targetted with funding to boost the amount of gold won at the expense of producing elite track and field competitors.

Nah. Inclusive is better. Show promise/excellence in any Olympic sport and you will be supported. Far better than chucking everything at a few runners.
