Think the street skateboarding is one of those sports where the incredible skill required just doesn't translate into a spectacle. Hardly alone there in the Olympics, but with it being new they might bin it off as a failed experiment.

The course in the Olympics is made up of a number of obstacles that are meant to replicate famous street spots from around the world. It just isn't quite the same though. The kids do well as they tend to skate skateparks all the time as their parents don't let them skate around the streets as much, the older skaters who skate the actual spots seem to have struggled quite a bit.

USA women’s team turning things right around against the Netherlands, scoring twice in 3 mins to go 2-1 up

All over for the GB team, heartbreaking 4-3 defeat in extra time to the Matildas of Australia

Sweden look like they are going through against hosts Japan, 3-1 up with 12 mins left

Canada beat favourites Brazil again earlier, like they did in the bronze medal game 5 years ago, this time on pens after a 0-0 draw

Only been watching for the last 20, when I came in from work. Actually like our women team so much more, than the men national team.

I started watching about 30 minutes ago. The Dutch have been the better side for most of that time. Some really good midfielders

I watched a bit of it on highlights last night and I enjoyed it.

Couldn't get into the skateboarding at all though

I couldn't at first. I was furious it was in the Olympics as it's obvioulsy not taekn that seriously by the competitors and they're on their arses more than their feet!. But then I thought about it again and thought: this lot are smiling and having a laugh and not even competing with each other - just doing what they do and getting paid for it with zero jingoism from them either as far as I could see. I think what they do undermines the Games in that respect...which is no bad thing.

Same as the snowboarders in the Winter Games: it's just kids showing off and posing.

There was no funding for the bmx girl I read earlier, She had to do a GoFundme and work as a teaching assistant.

They should give her the lottery cash that the useless chinless upper-middle class losers got for the rowing: force their bank accounts open and take it back and hand it to these kids on the BMXs and skateboards - a lot of whom need it.

I didn't say I dont like the rowing. I do. I just know a load of middle class chancers when i see them. This lot are nowhere near the Pinsents and Redgraves and Graingers...yet they get paid a 'kin fortune to train and get medals to an extent their champion predecessors weren't.
