Now the Little Estate Agents and the street is pedestrianised. Unfortunately footfall is declining and so are the shops on the street.

There seems to be bars and cafes opening regularly, I wonder how long they’ll last.

Yes mate, I worked there from 1983 until it closed in 1991. Loved the place.

Those institutions were safe in a way controversial as back in the day - as young girls who had an illegitimate child & both parents back then disowned them ended up in those types of places - as society then treated it as a cruel sin .....

Then on the other hand Thatcher's care in the community cost a fortune & many innocent members of the public got knifed injured or killed by former inmates back then ...

Also some were sold for a song & became prime building land .....
