I'm not referring to my opinion, just how i'd guess they'd be rated (and based on what i've read down the years). A knighthood while still playing and the 1st winner of the Ballon D'or as mentioned earlier (gained in a season when Blackpool finished 2nd in the league and he was the key man, despite being in his 40s. There's really no comparison in their global status. Dean was the ultimate goalscorer of those eras, but not player (it's a bit like rating Gerd Muller over Johann Cruyff).The most photographed player of his era - well before Mathews - plus his goalscoring record for his country was phenomenal ....no comparison IMO......
