HARRY LEYLAND Everton 1954-55 a short term keeper for us - the significant thing he was transferred & in goal at Oldham in the last game of the season in 1954 /55 last game where we had to win 5-0 to get the title or a win to come 2nd for promotion - he let 4 goals in the first half as thousands of blues travelled to fill the Oldham stadium climbing into the ground over the walls when the gates shut before kick off - the ground staff pored bitumen paint over the walls to stop the blues fans climbing in, but they went to the newsagents to buy loads of newspaper to stick over the tar to still get in ... My late father was there back into the big time where we have stayed ever since .....
