We were in for Trevor Francis well before the Latch under Catterick .... Everton that..... what an addition he would have been for us - The Catt would not meet the asking price..... which was well under 1 million Clough paid for him .....

You couldnt blame Moores for tightening the purse strings. Catterick, after signing Kendall in 1967, signed nobody who you could call a "success".

Trevor Francis was the first £1m footballer, when signing for Forest 78-79. Everton had shown interest in the early 70s, when he was around 21. He probably would have cost us £250,000. Him and Latchford would have torn up the league. I dont think we saw the best of Latch until Dave Thomas was signed.
A lot of wasted years for latch, partnering Telfer, Smallman, pearson etc
