Not strictly Everton, so apologies, but, 49 years ago today, 16 December 1972, Alan Whittle made his Crystal Palace debut, after signing from Everton, scoring the fourth goal in a 5-0 rout of Manchester United. Just saying.

He was supposed to be the next Dennis Law ..... a great eye for goal... won us the title ....
